William Hardy started as a gunsmith in Alnwick, England in 1872. He and his brothers crafted some of the finest shotguns and pistols, but their passion for fishing soon took over most of their time. 1891, saw the first patent for the Hardy "Perfect" reel. From their the rest is history and is why Hardy is one of the most respected brands in all of fly fishing.
